Unlearning

We sincerely need to unlearn many of the things we have learnt in life if we want to make a difference in our generation and live the life God has for us. I know we have been taught a lot of things in life right from childhood. We have learnt a lot both consciously and unconsciously from our parents, from the school, from our places of works, from different people who came into our lives and even from the church. Although, some of what we have learnt are good values and lessons, still yet, many are mere traditions, superstitions, the ideas of men based on ignorance. Some are even outdated I.e although it worked in the old times however, its not working in the present times.
However, I have discovered that most of these things are not accurate and genuine. The accuracy of most of this things fades and becomes irrelevant with time. Many times, we do things and don't question them. We just do it because that's the way people do it or that's what the them folks say. We do things because its our traditions and culture. We do things because we met them on earth. This is not wisdom. Just because you learnt it anywhere does not make it justifiable. Anyone can teach and be taught anything. You see, the twenty first century illiterate are NOT those who can not read and write but they are those who can not think, rethink and unlearn. It is not just enough to read and write. It is not just enough to have learnt so much. It matters on what exactly we have learnt.
Question! Is it relevant? Is it true? Does it stand the test of time? More so, does it agrees with the word of God?
These are sincere questions we need to ask ourselves as we grow in every areas of life. We must come to realize that most of these things we learnt were born out of the FALL OF ADAM, out of fear, ignorance, intolerance, emotions, selfishness, hatred, hopelessness, poverty and the likes. Amidst all this things, We all have a responsibility to search for the truth. We need to submit and sub-merge all this doctrines of men's wisdom to the LIGHT of Gods word in Christ Jesus. Only God has the final say so on any subject or any areas of our lives because in him all things consist, including our lives purposes, family, marriages, finances, health and so on.
